Gerard Brown CBE, Senior Partner

Gerard Brown is the firm’s senior partner.  A highly experienced criminal lawyer, Gerard was one of the first solicitors to be awarded extended rights of audience in the High Court, making him a solicitor-advocate.  He is accordingly able to represent the interests of clients in any court in Scotland.  Gerard often represents the interests of clients in fatal accident inquiries, and can assist with specialist forms of litigation, such as investigations by professional bodies.  He is well regarded in the legal community, having been a former President of the Glasgow Bar Association and long-time Council Member of the Law Society of Scotland.

Stuart Munro is the partner in charge of the Glasgow East department.  He is also the firm’s managing partner.  He started working with the firm in 1990, and qualified as a solicitor in 1994.  His main interests are in criminal law, family law (including disputes relating to finances and children), child protection and private client business.  He was the President of the Association of Children’s Hearings Practitioners for three years, and is regularly appointed by the courts to represent the interests of children in cases which affect them.   He is also interested in using IT to improve access to justice, and has worked with the Scottish Legal Aid Board on the development of their online systems.  He is a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Technology Committee, Court Technology Forum and Legal Aid Negotiating Team.  He has spoken at conferences and had articles published on a range of issues.  First and foremost he is a court practitioner, and has extensive experience of litigation work.

Julia Donnelly, Partner

Julia Donnelly is the partner in charge of the Glasgow City Civil department. She is the firm's client relations partner, and has responsibility for regulatory compliance.  Julia has almost  20 years’ experience in  a wide range of civil litigation work including significant reparation work. She also carries out a substantial Family Law and Referral practice within her own department.   Julia is one of a number of solicitors eligible by the appointment of the Sheriff Principal at Glasgow Sheriff Court to represent the interests of children at court. Julia has been trained as a Lawyer-Mediator and was previously involved in significant work as a Lawyer Mediator accredited by the Law Society of Scotland. In addition to reparation, Julia has a special interest in family and child law. Julia has been involved in litigation on a wide range of civil matters including reparation claims, family actions and referrals, in various Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland and in the Court of Session. Julia sees her key strengths as her vast experience, approachable manner, and track record of delivering  top results for clients.

Mark Allison has been with Livingstone Brown for five years.  In that time he has risen to the post of partner.  He is responsible for human resources within the firm, and assists with the management of the Glasgow East department.  He is principally interested in civil litigation, including family and child protection work, as well as employment cases.  He is also able to assist client with private client work such as powers of attorney and guardianship.  In addition to work in the Sheriff Court and Employment Tribunal, Mark has experience of work in the Court of Session and the Supreme Court.  He has an interest in human rights legislation, and how that can be used to protect the rights of vulnerable individuals.
