Livingstone Brown has been helping clients with their legal problems for over thirty years. Over that time the firm has grown into one of the country’s leading litigation firms, with over twenty lawyers and many more support staff. The firm has invested heavily in state of the art IT systems, allowing it to deliver the highest quality service to every client, wherever they stay.
As a result, Livingstone Brown Private Client is ideally placed to help you and your family with any legal matter that arises from time to time. Our services include:
• Wills : Making a will can be more straightforward than you think – it normally takes no more than a couple of meetings or phone calls – but can make a great difference to your loved ones. Our basic will packages begin at only £150 plus VAT, so why not do it now?
• Executries : Dealing with the estate of a loved one can be overwhelming, particularly at a time when you’re still dealing with the loss. You may have to apply for Confirmation to the court, deal with tax returns, and deal with outstanding liabilities. It’s usually much easier to involve a solicitor from the very beginning. The cost (which might not be as much as you’d expect) will be paid by the estate, and things will be dealt with professionally, efficiently and sympathetically, giving you peace of mind.
• Guardianship : If you have a loved one who’s unable to look after their own affairs, we can help. If the person is still able to give instructions, a power of attorney can let you take control. If not, the court can appoint you their guardian. Both procedures have strict rules and requirements, but once the process has been completed, you’ll be free to get on with things.
• Family : As one of the country’s leading family law firms, we can advise you on your rights, and ensure that swift, decisive action is taken where necessary. If you’ve separated from your spouse or partner, you need to know what to do. Are there time limits? What happens to the house? How are pensions and businesses taken into account? How can you protect your position while the case is being sorted out? What arrangements should be made for the children? What happens if you’re prevented from seeing them? For all these problems, and many others, you need strong, effective advice and guidance.
• Employment : In the current climate, few people are free from employment uncertainty. Are you facing redundancy or dismissal? If so, you need to get good advice, quickly. Very strict time limits apply in applications to the Employment Tribunal. Trying to deal with things yourself isn’t a realistic option.
• Conveyancing : Buying or selling a house can be a stressful experience – that’s why you need to ensure you’ve a capable and experienced solicitor handling it for you.
At Livingstone Brown Private Client, we appreciate that potential clients are worried about the costs involved in seeking legal advice. That's why we try to set things out as clearly as possible. Sometimes you can't predict exactly how much legal work will cost - a bitterly contested action will usually take longer, and cost more, than one where agreement is swiftly reached. However, a monthly payment plan, with regular standing orders, interim billing, and account updates will put your mind at rest. At all stages you remain in control. Alternatively, payments can be made by credit or debit card.
Livingstone Brown are also the country's largest providers of legal aid. We'll do an eligibility test for you free of charge, and over the phone if necessary. As experts in legal aid work, you can be assured that we will make full use of the system where available.
