The grounds for dissolution of a civil partnership are almost identical to that of marriage. There is one exception in that the adultery ground does not apply to dissolution of civil partnerships. The reason for this is due to the definition which is given to adultery, specifically that it is voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a person of the opposite sex not being the married partner.
Financial provision on dissolution of civil partnerships is also mirrored by the provisions in relation to marriage. The court has the same powers as it would in a divorce action when deciding how assets/liabilities of a civil partnership are to be shared.
At Livingstone Brown we pride ourselves on our knowledge and experience in even the most complex divorce/dissolution actions. We recognise that each relationship is unique and will have a different factual background and financial history.
