Grounds of referral – Fabricated & induced illness

A formidable legal team, your trusted partner

Fabricated & induced illness

Our firm (principal Solicitor, Mark Allison) represented a father in respect of very serious grounds of referral before a Sheriff Court in the Highlands and Islands.  The allegations involved complex medical issues, including ones which suggested Fabricated and Induced Illness (sometimes referred to as Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy).  The child had been accommodated on an emergency basis.  Through our effective representation of our client, we were able to, firstly, bring about the return of his young child to his sole care and, thereafter, to have his family (he, his wife, and all of their children) reunited to live in the household.  The Children’s Reporter eventually abandoned the case after it was shown that the allegations were false.

We are also now representing both parents in connection with complex litigation arising out of those proceedings, including pursuing compensation from the Local Authority.
