Barry Moir qualified as a solicitor in 2020, having graduated from Robert Gordon University. He trained in various areas of law including mental health, criminal defence, immigration, child protection and family law.

Barry strives to be approachable and provide clear advice to clients to achieve the outcomes they seek. He is committed to ensuring that clients’ voices are heard in challenging circumstances throughout child protection proceedings in both court and at children’s hearings.

Barry has an interest, and extensive experience, in representing children in the children’s hearing system. He has represented children placed in residential placements and secure units as well as children suffering from mental health problems and autism. He has demonstrated an ability to provide strong, understandable advice and advocate on behalf of his clients to ensure their views are represented.

He has extensive experience of appearing at children’s hearings and sheriff courts across Scotland conducting proofs and appeal hearings. He also has experience in representing families in proceedings involving Section 11 orders, and in permanence and adoption proceedings.
