Euphemia Matheson

Solicitor

Euphemia joined Livingstone Brown in 2021. She completed her traineeship and qualified with a Glasgow firm specialising in Media Law and Defamation. Originally from Stromness, in Orkney, Euphemia retuned to Glasgow in 2014 to undertake the Graduate LLB. During her studies, she became involved with the election petition action Morrison & Others v Carmichael at the court of session as a petitioner. This gave Euphemia a preview of the inner workings of the legal process in the court of session as well as invaluable insight into the experiences of litigants. She completed the graduate LLB with merit and thereafter completed the diploma at Strathclyde whilst working as a paralegal. Euphemia’s first degree is in Scottish Cultural Studies, and she focused particularly on Scottish History and Literature.

She was naturally drawn toward employment law during her studies and spent a summer as an employment adviser with CAB. During her diploma, she completed the Employment Law elective. During her traineeship and first years of practice, she advised clients working in the creative industries and gig economy.

Euphemia advises clients on unfair dismissal, discrimination, harassment, and in particular sexual harassment at work. Having worked in a small community Euphemia is acutely aware of the sensitivity of these issues for both employers and claimants. Making a claim and going to a Tribunal is daunting. Euphemia prides herself on being approachable and able to reassure her clients throughout the claims process.

She is also a law society accredited specialist in data protection and is happy to advise clients on data protection issues in an employment context.
