Stephen Smith is an associate in the firm's Employment & Contract team. Stephen has many years’ experience in employment and discrimination cases, which include obtaining significant awards for clients in a wide range of unfair dismissal; disability, age and pregnancy discrimination; and other employment and equality act claims. He has also been involved in providing advice in large scale TUPE transfers. As well as regularly conducting cases before the Employment Tribunals throughout Scotland and The Employment Appeal Tribunal, Stephen has also been involved in judicial mediation cases. He is able to advise employees and employers alike on a range of employment issues and services. Stephen is extremely knowledgeable and prides himself on his ability to give clear, straightforward advice. He has a particular interest in discrimination and other complex cases.
Due to his recognised expertise in the field, he is a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Employment Law Sub-Committee and is a tutor in Employment Law at the University of Glasgow. Having previously worked in journalism, Stephen can advise on media relations and also has experience in family law and commercial litigation.
