Having studied at both Aberdeen University and Glasgow Graduate School of Law, Lucy Neil completed her traineeship in Aberdeen in a boutique corporate firm, giving her insight into employers’ priorities relating to corporate and employment matters.
Upon qualification, Lucy gained experience in Scottish charities, initially working on a homelessness project with a housing charity, advising clients experiencing a range of complex difficulties. This experience furthered her interest in social justice, which she nurtured on her move to Glasgow, by beginning to work as an employment solicitor in a law centre. Here she was provided excellent experience of legal aid funded claims and working in collaboration with other professional groups.
She joined Livingstone Brown in 2018 as a solicitor in employment law. Her experience in this field has reinforced her recognition that our workplaces play an extremely important role in supporting a happy, sustainable lifestyle and she is a keen advocate for access to justice for all. The understanding of personal and social difficulties which can arise from employment issues, coupled with her warm and engaging manner allows a relationship of trust to develop readily with clients. She believes that her tenacity in pursuing their claims and her interest in protecting employees’ rights assists in building positive relationships and enables her to obtain the best possible outcomes for clients.
