Nicola Watson is a Senior Associate in the Family Law Practice Area Unit, with specialist accreditation as a Family Mediator by the Law Society of Scotland. Nicola qualified as a solicitor in January 2016. She joined Livingstone Brown as a trainee solicitor in 2014 having graduated from the University of Strathclyde. Nicola has significant experience in dealing with various aspects of family law including residence/ contact disputes, relocation cases, divorce and separation agreements. She regularly advises clients on financial provision on divorce and is adept at preparing both pre-nuptial and pre-cohabitation agreements. In addition, Nicola has had experience in assisting with international child abductions cases involving the Hague Convention, in which she has acted on behalf of both Pursuers and Defenders.

In addition to her significant family law experience, Nicola has built up considerable knowledge in other areas of general civil litigation including interdict and appeals relating to academic placing requests. She is also able to assist clients who are seeking to obtain Power of Attorney and Guardianship Orders.

Nicola has gained a STEP Diploma in Wills and Executries, having achieved this with distinction. She can assist clients with the preparation of their wills and provide advice on the procedure to be followed after a loved one has passed away.

Nicola has made countless court appearances in sheriff courts across Scotland and has instructed counsel in the Court of Session. Amongst her key strengths is her ability to relate to clients in an approachable and friendly manner whilst providing them with effective solutions to their legal problems. Nicola always provides prompt and practical advice, tailored towards moving matters forward for clients.
